Busy Life

We live in a very busy world. There always seems to be something to do & no time to rest. But God demonstrated that rest is appropriate & right. If God Himself rested from His work, we also need rest. Jesus Christ also demonstrated this principle when He & His disciples left in a boat to get away from the crowds. Our times of rest refresh us for times of service for God.

“The heavens & the earth & everything in them were completed. By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done & He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. God blessed the seventh day & declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.” (Genesis 2:1-3)

The Obedient Sacrifice

Abraham gave us one of the greatest stories of obedience in history. He traveled three days to Mount Moriah in order to obey God. Over the years Abraham had learned many tough lessons about the importance of obeying God. Being willing to sacrifice his son Isaac was prompt & complete.

Obeying God is often a struggle because it may mean giving up something we truly want. We should not expect our obedience to God to be easy or come naturally. But anything we give up is nothing compared to what God has done for us. We can never fully repay Jesus Christ for what He gave up on the cross for us. (Genesis 22:1-19)

Jesus is Our Light Through Tough Days

To walk safely in the woods at night we need a flashlight so we don’t stumble over tree roots or fall into holes. In this life, we walk through the dark woods of evil. But the Bible can be our light to show us the way ahead so we won’t stumble as we walk.

The Light revels the entangling roots of false teachers, false values & false philosophies. Study the Bible so you will be able to see your way clear enough to stay on the Good path. There is only one way to walk through the dark woods of evil. Jesus is The Way, The Truth & The Life. One way to Heaven…One path that shows The Light…It is Jesus.

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet & a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

Wake Up Sleeping Church of America!!

There is a lot of discussion in this country about what we should or shouldn’t do, can or cannot do, who we should love or not love, etc. How about Christians be the Believers we should be & the Church be what the Church is commanded to do in the Bible?

We are in the mess we are in because too many people went to Church & the messages didn’t flow through the fabric of their lives. The American Church as a whole dropped the ball for the last 60 years. Now we see a result of the Church not being the Church. Christians being Christians 75, 50 or 10% of the time, etc.

Yes, many have done a lot. Given a lot. Served a lot. But all certainly haven’t been “all in.” Not even close. How many are all in now as compared to the 60’s when everything unraveled at the seams? A lot less now than then & therein lies the problem.
Until the sleeping Church wakes up, it will continue getting worse. We need to get in the game, God’s game, & do more than be spectators in the pews & pulpits.

Short-term Pleasures

Esau traded the lasting benefits of his birthright for the immediate pleasure of food. He acted impulsively, satisfying his immediate desires without pausing to think about the long-term consequences of his decision.

We can fall into the same trap. When we see something we really want, our first impulse is to get it. At first we feel happy because we have grabbed what we wanted. But immediate pleasure doesn’t last. We can avoid Esau’s mistake by comparing short-term pleasures with its long-term consequences before we act impulsively. (Genesis 25:27-34)

God Can Change Any Situation

As a slave & prisoner, Joseph could have seen his situation as hopeless. Instead, he did his best with each small assignment given him. His positive attitude & hard work were soon noticed by the prison warden, who promoted Joseph to prison administrator.

Are you facing a tough & overwhelming situation? At home, at work, or at school, follow Joseph’s example by taking each small task & doing your very best. Don’t ever forget how God turned Joseph’s situation into something tremendously good!! God will see your efforts & can reverse overwhelming odds. (Genesis 39:21-23)

God Is In The Change Business

When Judah was younger, he had showed no concern for his brother Joseph or his father, Jacob. First he had convinced his brothers to sell Joseph as a slave. Then he had joined his brothers in lying to his father about Joseph’s life.

However, people can grow up & change! The young man who had sold one favored little brother into slavery offered to become a slave to save another little brother. Judah was so concerned for his father & younger brother that he was willing to die for them!

When you are ready to give up hope on yourself or someone else, remember that God can work a complete change in even the most selfish personality. God is in the “change business.” He can take selfishness & self-centeredness and turn it into something good for His Kingdom. (Genesis 44:14-34)

God Forgives Us & Rescues Us From Sin

God rescued Israel through Moses & through mighty miracles. The Passover celebration is an annual reminder of their escape from slavery in Egypt.

God delivers us from the slavery of sin…Jesus Christ celebrated the Passover with HIs disciples at the Last Supper…Jesus went on to rescue us from sin by dying in our place.
Thank you Almighty God for giving Christians forgiveness, grace, hope & a future with Him in Heaven through His Living Son Jesus Christ!!!! (Exodus)

God Uses Bad Things for Good

Although Joseph’s brothers had wanted to get rid of him, God used their evil actions to fulfill HIs ultimate plan. God had sent Joseph ahead to preserve their lives, save Egypt & prepare the way for the beginning of the nation of Israel. (Genesis 45:4-8)

God is sovereign. His plans are not dictated by human actions. When others intend evil toward you, remember that they are only God’s tools. As Joseph said to his brothers, “You planned evil against me. God planned it for good to bring about the present result, the survival of many people.” (Genesis 50:20)
